Vanessa Lazaro
Predoctoral Fellow and Apprentice
Vanessa Lazaro is an Institute of Education Sciences predoctoral fellow and apprentice with EC*REACH. As a fellow, she works to bridge the gap between research and community engagement and is involved in projects related to early childhood education in Chicago. Vanessa’s own research focuses on how young children think about brilliance and the consequences of these beliefs. Previously, as a lab manager, she studied infant curiosity and was responsible for creating and cultivating community partnerships across the greater Phoenix area. Vanessa received a BA from Cornell University in Sociology and Psychology with a certificate in Inequality Studies, and an MA in Psychology from the University of Chicago. She hopes to receive her PhD in Developmental Psychology and continue her work with EC*REACH.
